On the evening of May 29th, the 9th National Excellent Children's Drama Exhibition hosted by the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Nanchong Municipal People's Government was opened in Nanchong, Sichuan. Lu Yingchuan, member of the party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hu Yun, vice governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Gu Zhengju, secretary of Nanchong Municipal Committee of the CPC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Ming Wenjun, Director of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, presided over the opening ceremony. The Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Nanchong Municipal People's Government and relevant responsible comrades, as well as the national children's theater experts and scholars, representatives of the exhibition team, the news media and other journalists, more than 500 people attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, the large-scale mythological puppet show Dragon Gate Legend created and performed by Nanchong Grand Puppet Theater gave a special performance. The play takes the folk legend of “Carp jumping over the Dragon Gate” as the background, vividly displaying the artistic characteristics of the national intangible cultural heritage of Sichuan North Puppetry and the rich and colorful folk customs and traditions along the Jialing River, and bringing a brand-new audio-visual feast to the audience.

The National Outstanding Children's Drama Exhibition, the most influential national art activity in the field of children's drama, has been held for eight consecutive years. With the theme of “Lighting up the Children's Heart - Shaping the Future”, the ninth exhibition will feature 34 excellent children's plays by more than 1,000 performers from 34 art troupes and institutions in 27 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, and so on, covering various art forms including drama, opera, puppetry, shadow theater, song and dance, acrobatics, etc. During the period of the exhibition, “one play, one evaluation” and the national children's theater development seminar, children's art popularization and other public welfare activities will also be held. The exhibition will last until June 8th.
