On April 7, Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping met with visiting French Minister of Culture Marac in Beijing, and the two sides held in-depth discussions on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France to organize the Sino-French Culture and Tourism Year and other matters.
Hu Heping welcomed Malak's visit to China with French President Emmanuel Macron. He said leaders of the two countries attach great importance to the development of bilateral cultural relations, and on April 6, President Xi Jinping and President Macron held talks to fully restart humanistic exchanges. 2024 is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the Year of Culture and Tourism in China and France, so the two sides will take the opportunity of the full restart of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries to promote exchanges in various fields such as culture, education, language, publishing, film and television, tourism, localities and youth. The two heads of state also witnessed the signing of three cooperation agreements in the field of culture. China is willing to work with the French side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, to do a good job in the Sino-French Cultural Tourism Year; to support the establishment of institutionalized cooperation between the two countries' cultural and artistic institutions, and to jointly organize more highlights of the project; to give full play to the role of the cultural centers of the two countries as windows and platforms, and to promote the deepening of the friendship between China and France; to strengthen cooperation in the field of art education, and to cultivate young cultural and artistic talent. And the 2024 Paris Olympics will be an opportunity to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Malak highly agreed with the cooperation proposals put forward by Hu Heping, and said that during her visit to China with President Macron, she participated in a number of cultural activities, witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements in the cultural field, and hoped that the two sides would take the Sino-French Year of Culture and Tourism as an opportunity to comprehensively strengthen cooperation in the fields of cultural heritage, visual arts, music, theater, dance, film and so on.
The heads of important French cultural institutions such as the Palace of Versailles and the Guimet Museum accompanied Malak's visit and introduced the projects planned to be held during the Sino-French Cultural Tourism Year.
