On April 4, Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping met with Secretary General of the League of Arab States Geert in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and the two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening China-Arab humanities exchanges and cooperation.

Hu Heping said that the friendship of the Chinese Arab people has a long history and is everlasting. In order to implement the spirit of the first China-Arab Summit, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, together with the Secretariat of the League of Arab States, successfully organized the Fifth Arab Arts Festival in China, to which President Xi Jinping, President Teben of Algeria, President Said of Tunisia, and the Secretary-General separately sent congratulatory letters. Recently, representatives of renowned Arab artists who had been invited to China for an excursion wrote a joint letter to President Xi Jinping, expressing their admiration for China's development achievements and their appreciation of the deep friendship between China and Arabia. President Xi Jinping's reply to the letter from the representatives of renowned Arab artists has once again given important instructions for the development of China-Arab humanistic relations. China takes this opportunity to join hands with the Arab side to organize the "Art on the Silk Road - Exhibition of Famous Chinese and Arab Artists' Pilgrimage Works" and the China-Arab Artists' Dialogue Salon in Cairo, to show the fruitful results of China-Arab cultural cooperation and to talk about friendship with the representatives of Arab artists face-to-face. China is willing to take this opportunity to continue to carry out practical cooperation with the Arab side of the "eight common actions", the full implementation of the "Cultural Silk Road" program, to promote Sino-Arab youth exchanges, and to cultivate friendship, so as to build a solid humanistic foundation for the in-depth development of Sino-Arab cultural cooperation.
