On March 14, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the Xicheng District People's Government, invited the Chinese envoys to attend the Peking Opera National Art Appreciation and Intangible Heritage Experience at the Beijing Tianqiao Art Center. Nearly 140 diplomats, including 25 ambassadors of Laos, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Czech Republic, Austria, Iceland, Uruguay and Venezuela, 7 chargés d'affaires, 5 representatives of international organizations in China, and representatives of 34 other embassies (institutions) in China, attended. Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying attended and delivered a speech.

In her speech, Hua Chunying said President Xi Jinping pointed out that culture is the soul of a country and a nation. With its long history and rich cultural heritage, Beijing is the best window for envoys to experience Chinese culture. Experiencing intangible heritage projects and perceiving the national essence of Beijing opera will help the envoys feel Chinese civilization and understand contemporary China. The two sessions of the Chinese People's Congress have just successfully concluded, and the new Chinese government is leading the Chinese people on the road of comprehensively realizing Chinese-style modernization in a positive spirit. Chinese-style modernization is a modernization that harmonizes material civilization and spiritual civilization, which is not only extremely rich in material wealth, but also confident and self-reliant in ideology and culture. The cultures of different civilizations differ only in their contents, and there is no hierarchy of superiority or inferiority. China is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding with other countries and share the diversity and beauty of human civilization. The envoys are welcome to actively participate in the series of activities organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so as to enhance their understanding of the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.

The envoys congratulated on the successful convening of China's two sessions, saying that Chinese culture is colorful and the Peking Opera performance that night was wonderful, and that they felt the vastness and depth of Chinese culture from the display of China's national art and intangible heritage, and experienced the Chinese people's love of life, vigorous creativity and excellent artistic talent, and gained a deeper understanding of Chinese civilization.
