On September 6, the 6th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo opened in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province. Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Central Propaganda Department, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
Chinese and foreign guests said that Dunhuang is an important node of the ancient Silk Road and a place where cultures and civilizations converge and mingle. This year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's initiative to build the Belt and Road. At this new starting point, we should vigorously advocate the spirit of the Silk Road, actively implement the Global Civilization Initiative, and extensively carry out international humanistic exchanges and cooperation, so as to inject a deeper civilizational force into the construction of the "Belt and Road".
Chinese and foreign guests believe that Dunhuang culture should be cherished, thoroughly studied and vigorously promoted, and the philosophical thinking, humanistic spirit, values and artistic traditions embedded in Dunhuang culture should be explored. Respect the diversity of civilizations, develop together in openness, achieve each other in mutual learning, and jointly write a new chapter of mutual knowledge and friendship. Protect and pass on the treasures of human civilization, and promote international cooperation in the field of cultural heritage in areas such as research on ancient civilizations, joint archaeology, restoration of monuments and construction of museums. With respect for the outstanding traditional cultures of all countries, we should integrate tradition and modernity, inheritance and innovation, and build a modern civilization rich in the spirit of the times and a global vision.
This year's Dunhuang Fair is guided by the Central Propaganda Department, Gansu Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Administration of Radio and Television, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, co-sponsored by the "Communicate with the world: mutual learning of cultural exchanges and civilizations" as the theme. More than 1,200 guests from more than 50 countries, regions and international participated in the meeting.
