On September 6, Li Qun, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism and Director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, met with Nazarbekov, Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, in Dunhuang.
On behalf of Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping, Li Qun welcomed Nazarbekov to China. He said that in recent years, the relationship between China and UZ has been developing steadily. In May this year, President Mirziyoyev paid a state visit to China and attended the China-Central Asia Summit, and the heads of state of China and UZ held an important meeting and signed a joint statement, further pointing out the direction for the bright future of relations between the two countries. China is willing to work with the UZ side, continue to implement the relevant important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides continue to achieve new results, and work together to build a closer China-Uzbekistan community of destiny. Li Qun pointed out that cultural exchanges and cooperation is an important part of China-Uzbekistan relations and plays an irreplaceable role in promoting mutual understanding between the two countries. China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Culture have maintained close cooperative relations, and the two sides have achieved remarkable results in jointly organizing cultural and artistic activities, carrying out archaeological research and cultural heritage protection, and deepening tourism cooperation.
Nazarbekov said that China is a reliable partner and close friend of Uzbekistan, that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to cooperation with China, and that cultural exchanges between Uzbekistan and China have broad prospects. Uzbekistan is willing to maintain close communication with the Chinese side and carry out extensive cooperation in such areas as promoting mutual visits of cultural and artistic groups, joint archaeology and attracting Chinese enterprises to invest in Uzbekistan's cultural industry, so as to jointly promote cultural exchanges between Uzbekistan and China to a new level.
