President Xi Jinping announced the eight major steps China would take to support our joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation at the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and expressed China’s willing to join hands with other countries to further Belt and Road cooperation and exchanges between different civilizations. This conference is of great significance to carrying out the consensus of the Forum, deepening exchanges and cooperation, and expanding the influence of the Alliance. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China is ready to work with countries along the Silk Road and other members of the Alliance to act upon the Global Civilization Initiative, put the Cultural Silk Road plan into practice, build cooperation mechanisms such as the Museum Alliance and put them into good use, and host various cultural and tourism exchange activities, so as to fully exercise the consensus of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on people-to-people exchanges.
Xia Zehan expressed that the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping aligned with the Silk Road spirits and set up bridges between different civilizations, contributing to the communication, mutual learning and cooperation between these countries. Museums are essential places for protecting cultural heritage and empowering public education, and UNESCO has been providing capacity building and technical support in managing museums to encourage them to play a greater role in social development. The International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road has stimulated cultural exchanges, dialogue and cooperation among countries, and supported and advanced the Belt and Road Initiative with concrete actions. It is expected that the Alliance will continue to tap its potential and play its positive role in building a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
