The Chengdu Universiade is not only an exciting sporting event but also a cultural celebration.

When the "Golden Sunbird" lit the sacred fire, bringing three thousand years of Chinese history to the magnificent Chengdu night sky, the Chengdu Universiade was officially opened. From the fireworks to the design of the torch tower and the way it was lit, the "Golden Sun Bird" was a constant motif of the opening ceremony.

Chengdu is the birthplace of the ancient Shu civilization, which has a history of more than 3,000 years. It is a city of profound history and rich culture, and through the Universiade, Chengdu stands at the crossroads of ancient and modern culture, showcasing China.

The countdown for the Opening Ceremony begins with a beam of light, and as the athletes make their way to the ceremony, a "Silk Road" paved with "Shu Brocade" stretches along their path; a symbol of a bright future, the brocade has over 2,000 years of history and has been known as Chengdu's special product since ancient times.

Inspired by Sichuan chili peppers, the uniform of the ushers at the opening ceremony highlights Chengdu's vibrant character. The Sichuan Opera face-painting performance further elevates the atmosphere of the ceremony, allowing guests and friends from around the world to fully experience the charm of Chinese culture.

"The overall creative concept of this Opening Ceremony is to highlight the Chinese characteristics as well as the Sichuan style and youthful spirit," said the Director of the Opening Ceremony. Inside and outside the ceremony venue, the Giant Panda is as popular as ever; the mascot of the Chengdu Universiade, "Rongbao", is based on the Giant Panda and sends a message to the people of the world with its adorable and friendly presence: China welcomes all with open arms!

The bamboo forest scene shown on the big screen of the main media center represents Chinese philosophies such as "Tao follows nature", which advocates the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, reflects the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and combines the rich ecological wisdom with the Shu brocade technique.

Based on the law of "cold lanes" of ancient traditional architecture, the Universiade organizers designed a Delegation Services Center that can stay cool without the use of air conditioning, showcasing a unique Chinese romanticism that combines heritage and innovation, ancient and modern characters.

Many foreign visitors queued up at the official gift shop to buy the coveted Sichuan Opera face-changing blind box and the "Rongbao" doll.

The World University Student-Athlete People-to-People Exchange also kicked off a few days ago with activities such as the "Universiade Village Evening", academic seminars, and the "Exploring Chengdu" travel and reading event, which form a spectacular "cultural feast".
