On 20 July, the 6th China Xinjiang International Folk Dance Festival opened in Urumqi. Mr. Ma Xingrui, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Hu Heping, deputy head in charge of routine work of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Minister of Culture and Tourism, addressed the audience at the ceremony and officially opened the festival. Mr. Erkin Tuniyaz, Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, addressed the opening ceremony. Mr. Wang Guosheng, head of the Central Committee’s number fifteen guiding group for the party education campaign, attended the opening ceremony.
According to Mr. Hu Heping, in recent years, Xinjiang has comprehensively and accurately implemented the Party’s Xinjiang policies in the New Era, making solid progress in promoting the rule of law, solidarity and stability, cultural diversity, prosperity and the public good, as well as long-term development in Xinjiang, fully exemplifying the political advantage of the leadership of the CPC, the institutional strength of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and the power of combined efforts, as symbolized by “the close unity of all ethnic groups like the seeds of a pomegranate”. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the 6th China Xinjiang International Folk Dance Festival seeks to implement the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, promote the Silk Road spirit of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusion, mutual learning, and win-win cooperation, build a professional, international, and open platform for international cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation, showcase the new image and spirit of Xinjiang in the New Era, and increase the practices, channels, and results for cultural exchange and mutual learning. The “Global Village” is a shared community for mankind, and the “Chinese Dream” is closely tied to the dreams of the peoples around the world. We need to continuously improve our bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, broaden channels for dialogue and cooperation, promote people-to-people exchange, and foster mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.
Mr. Erkin Tuniyaz highlighted that the China Xinjiang International Folk Dance Festival holds immense significance as a vital brand for Chinese cultural exchange which plays a crucial role in connecting the “Belt and Road” countries and regions by promoting cultural and artistic exchange. The organizers are committed to multiplying their work and efforts in organizing the festival to enhance its uniqueness, attractiveness, and influence, with the aim of further promoting Xinjiang’s rich and diverse cultural and artistic heritage to the world. Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Council Information Office, and the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with the theme of “Dreams of Dance, Harmony of Silk Road”, this year’s Folk Dance Festival will span 17 days and feature 28 captivating performances by 27 troupes from 12 countries, including China, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, South Africa, Thailand, and South Korea. Additionally, a series of side events and activities, such as fashion shows, hip-hop dance performances, and creative Xinjiang dance workshops, will also be held during the festival.
