On 26 July, the 2023 Beautiful Countryside International Forum hosted by the People's Government of Gansu Province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was held in Kang County, Longnan Prefecture Level City, with the theme of "Promoting the Integrated Development of Agriculture, Culture and Tourism - Building a Livable, Workable and Beautiful Countryside".

Mr. Ren Zhenhe, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Gansu Province, attended and address the main forum. Mr. Deng Xiaogang, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, delivered a keynote speech. H.E. Mr. Mohsen Bakhtiar, the Iranian Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Rahamtalla M. Osman, representative of the African Union to China, and H.E. Mr. Qu Sixi, representative of the United Nations World Food Programme to China, delivered speeches at the forum.

Mr. Wu Haitao, Deputy Governor of Hubei Province, and Mr. Hu Sheng, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and Mayor of Longyan Prefecture Level City in Fujian Province, attended the forum. Mr. Li Gang, Deputy Governor of Gansu Province, hosted the forum, and Mr. Zhang Weiwen, Secretary-General of the Gansu Provincial Government, attended the forum.

In his speech, Mr. Ren Zhenhe said that under the scientific guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization, Gansu Province has earnestly implemented the philosophy of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and continuously deepened the practice of "making examples of a thousand villages and renovating ten thousand villages" project in Gansu Province, using the construction of beautiful countryside as an important channel for rural revitalization as well as agricultural and rural modernization, cultivating the ecological base and refreshing the face of the countryside, activating the dynamics of the industry, and enhancing the well-being of the people, creating a modern version of "Fuchun Mountain Residence Map" with unique character. With the Beautiful Countryside Forum, Gansu Province hope to exchange advanced philosophies, share successful experiences, and deepen practical cooperation with colleagues and friends from all sectors, injecting new momentum and contributing new wisdom to the construction of beautiful countryside with "beautiful villages, clean yards, good social atmosphere, as well as strong industries, wealthy residents, and strong communities". Gansu Province will use "harmony" as a paintbrush and "beauty" as its color palette, focusing on constructing beautiful countryside, thriving industries, wealthy residents, good governance, harmonious social atmosphere, and strong communities, creating a series of strong, beautiful, civilized, good-governance, happy, and dynamic countrysides, putting effort into painting a landscape painting of Gansu Province that depicts the unique as well as the collective beauty of its regions. Gansu will use "harmony" as rhyme and "beauty" as tune, taking the construction of harmonious and beautiful countryside as an important channel for promoting ecological protection and high-quality development along the Yellow River basin, improving the beauty of its ecological and living environments, coordinate and accelerate the construction of the material, spiritual, and ecological civilizations in rural areas, making beautiful landscapes and good ecological environments a "standard of living" for the Gansu people. Gansu Province will use "harmony" as the base and "beauty" as the catalyst for integration, commit to the strategy of strengthening leading industries, improving weaker sectors, enhancing industry dynamics, building industry brands, discovering local resources, amplifying unique strengths, and improving industry output to accelerate the development of the beautiful countryside economy and make efforts to foster the synergy in building the ecological and humanistic beauty of Gansu. Gansu Province will use "harmony" as a medium and "beauty" as a bridge, take full advantage of the "bridge" which is the Beautiful Countryside Forum, embrace the wind of jointly building"Belt and Road" with high-quality, promote resource sharing between brother provinces and international friendship cities, complement each other's advantages, exchange information and integrate cultures, continuously expanding the framework and patterns for communication and cooperation.

Mr. Deng Xiaogang said that in recent years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has deeply comprehended and accurately grasped the important guiding spirit of the important speech by General Secretary Xi Jinping, fully recognizing the extraordinary implications of the "making examples of a thousand villages and renovating ten thousand villages" project, deeply understanding its underlying essence, central themes, philosophies, and methodologies, accelerating the construction of livable, workable, harmonious, and beautiful countrysides, achieving significant progress in the promotion of integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism and the construction of beautiful countryside. Using the "making examples of a thousand villages and renovating ten thousand villages" project as a benchmark and the Beautiful Countryside Forum as an opportunity, committing to the selected goals and path, creating a modern version of "Fuchun Mountain Residence Map" with unique character, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs hope that Gansu Province can continue to up-play its strengths and strengthen people-to-people exchange and mutual learning from experience in relevant fields to the construction of beautiful countryside - both in China and abroad - especially in the partnership and cooperation regarding key resource elements such as funding, technology, management, talent, and information, joining forces and sharing results, opening up a brilliant new chapter for the construction of livable, workable, harmonious, and beautiful countryside.
