The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been learning and implementing core spirits of the significant speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping since the launch of a series of activities themed on Xi's Thought, Hu Heping pointed out. He announced that various tasks had been completed with effective achievement as the ministry deployed work aligned with decisions made by the Party Central Committee. Activities were well-planned and highly organized to encourage deeper learning from theories of Xi's Thought. Research was carried out before correcting mistakes, solving problems and deepening understandings toward Xi's Thought so as to advance high-quality development. Combining both requirements of the Party Central Committee and work progress of the ministry, the 19th Steering Group of the Party Central Committee provided whole-process support, guidance and monitoring in various respects, which guaranteed effective promotion of activities themed on Xi's Thought.
Hu proposed several requirements for the ministry. First, have a strong sense of both political and historical responsibilities and continue to carry out theme-based activities compliant with the reality at a deeper level. Move forward to implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, learn principles and theories from the original texts. The ministry needs to encourage Party members and cadres not only to understand and internalize theories and ideas that they learned, but also to put them into practice, thus driving high-quality development of culture and tourism, assuming new cultural responsibilities for the new era, building cultural confidence and making glorious accomplishment in socialist culture. Second, choose research topics in line with principles advocated by the General Secretary featuring depth, practicality, specificity, accuracy and effectiveness. The ministry should improve research methods and styles as well as make full use of the results. It is required to call for in-depth, valuable and effective research conducted by Party members and cadres. Third, attach great importance to problems needed to be resolved and carry forward the spirits of thorough self-reform resolutely. The ministry needs to learn and implement the spirits while reflecting on and solving real problems in practical manners. Cadres should be educated to improve their mentality by focusing on objectives including strengthening political loyalty, solving prominent problems, upgrading the stringent management system and building a loyal group. The ministry not only needs to monitor its own behaviors, correct its mistakes, and execute work step by step with priority on key tasks, but also needs to shoulder political responsibilities by playing roles of leading, deploying and promoting to guarantee effective outcomes of the theme-based activities.
