Party Group Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping gave a Party lecture on theoretical study of implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and creating a new form of human civilization. Bayanqolu and Zhangji, the director and the vice director of the 19th Central Steering Group of the theoretical study program and members attended the meeting and gave instructions. Party group members of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism including Li Qun, Wang Xudong, La Yifan, Lu Yingchuan and Rao Quan attended the meeting.

Hu Heping pointed out in the Party lecture that since the 18th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping had made a series of important statements on creating a new form of human civilization in multiple key occasions. The statements consist of political and ideological theories that are highly instructive. These statements covered multiple aspects and entertained profound thoughts and ambitious goals, which constitute an important part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Study and implement spirits of important remarks on creating a new form of human civilization by General Secretary Xi Jinping, better understand the relationship between culture and civilization, fine traditional Chinese culture and modern civilization of the Chinese nation and have a grasp of content, features and practice demands for creating a new form of human civilization, all of which are important efforts to unify out thoughts, will and actions, continue our success by utilizing valuable experiences we had learned from the past accomplishment and move toward the second Centenary Goal by sticking to the Chinese path. As a result, we will surely build China into a modern socialist country in all respects, create a new form of human civilization and write a new chapter for shaping modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

Hu Heping stressed that the significant conclusion of creating a new form of human civilization was an ambitious pronouncement by CPC on uniting and leading the Chinese people in building up confidence and strengthening self-reliance of the Chinese nation and staying committed to contributing to human progress. It is of great theoretical, historical, practical and global significance. We should be aware that this conclusion brought in new ideas on social development and thus takes Marxism up to a new level. Furthermore, the conclusion expounded glorious achievement and invaluable experience CPC gained during its endeavors over the past century, indicated the right direction of building China into a powerful nation through a Chinese path to modernization and rejuvenate the Chinese nation and contributed China’s wisdom and China’s solution featuring human progress and universal brotherhood. We should develop in-depth understandings toward creating a new form of human civilization, which should be rooted by Chinese civilization, inherited, developed and innovated; which should be integrated with fundamental principals of Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture; which should be fostered and developed in the process of pursuing Chinese modernization on all fronts; which should propel people’s all-round development in a liberal way; which should aim to realize common values for the entire humanity.

Hu underlined that new cultural missions for a new era should be delivered by staff in the cultural and tourism industry, which means advancing culture to thrive, building China into a cultural powerhouse and developing modern civilization of the Chinese nation at a new starting point. Improve sense of responsibility and mission, take insights into implementing key spirits of remarks by General Secretary Xi on work concerning culture and tourism and creating a new form of human civilization. Firmly uphold the fundamental institution which is to follow the guidance of Marxism in ideology, adapt Marxism to Chinese context and update it in line with time changes, elaborate on “Two Combinations” especially the second Combination and delve into the study of “Two Combinations”, “pursuing Chinese modernization” in a systemic way. Stay confident in our own culture, uphold the guiding core socialist values, develop and prosper cultural undertaking and industry and tourism industry, create more outstanding artworks, cultural products and tourist products so as to meet people’s cultural needs, inspire them, achieve common prosperity at a cultural level for all people and promote their all-round development. Adhere to laws, ethics and innovation, firmly stick to standpoints of the Chinese culture and implement programs like protecting and inheriting fine traditional Chinese culture, “trace the origins of Chinese civilization” and “Archeology of China”. Step up efforts to protect and utilize cultural relics along with ancient books, better protect intangible cultural heritages in a systemic approach for the purpose of creatively transforming and innovatively develop fine traditional Chinese culture. Persist in opening-up and inclusiveness, deliver Gobal Civilization Initiative, strengthen international people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation and improve international communication capacity. Activities like “Happy Spring Festival”, “Hello China” and high-level brand promotion activities including Chinese- Foreign Year(Festival) of Culture and Tourism need to be resoundlingly held while implementing the “Cultural Silk Road Initiative” and campaign on protecting Asian cultural heritages, thus better promoting Chinese culture to the world and improving national culture as a national soft power and its influence.
