On July 11th, Shen Yiqin, secretary of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, met envoys to China and representatives of international organizations who attended the Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2021. Zhang Shengxin, secretary general of the Eco Forum Global Guiyang, and heads of the government of Guizhou province, including Zhao Deming, Lu Yongzheng and Cai Zhaolin, were also present at the meeting.
Important foreign guests presenting at the meeting were: Mr. Marc Hübsch, Luxembourg ambassador to China, Mr. Sterling Quant, Bahamas ambassador to China, Mr. João Salvador dos Santos Neto, Angola ambassador to China, Mr. Rafael Dezcallar de Mazarredo, Spanish ambassador to China, Mr. Bernardino Regazzoni, Switzerland ambassador to China, Mr. Tarik Bukewicz, Bosnia and Herzegovina ambassador to China, Mr. Gaafar Karar, Sudan ambassador to China, Ms. Caroline Elizabeth Wilson, United Kingdom ambassador to China, and Mr. John Muffat Fugui, Solomon Islands ambassador to China.
On behalf of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, Guizhou Provincial Government and nationalities in Guizhou province, Shen Yiqin extended her warm welcome to foreign guests and expressed her thanks to the support to the forum by the foreign affairs ministry. Shen Yiqin said that currently, the province had been developing under the guidance of the general secretary Xi Jinping and the government would implement high-level development for the whole plan; step on the path of the green development with ecology as a priority, expand reform and opening up and introduce ourselves to the world with the help of the “Belt and Road” initiative. The Eco Forum Global Guiyan was a national-level international forum with the theme of ecological civilization. After 10-years of effort, it’s now an important platform to promote Xi Jinping’s thoughts on ecological civilization and to present China’s achievement of ecological civilization. She hoped that foreign guests could have a better understanding of the Guizhou and help to promote it, so as to support the province's reform and opening up and speed up it's high-quality development. Di Juan expressed his gratitude to the well organization and considerate arrangement of the government of Guizhou. he said that foreign guests attending this forum had a precious opportunity to understand China and Guizhou, especially at this year which was also the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. There must be new opportunities for international cooperation through this forum. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of China would also contribute to the cooperation between Guizhou and foreign countries. Mr. Marc Hübsch, Mr. Bernardino Regazzoni and Mr. Gaafar Karar said that at present, many countries saw ecological civilization and sustainable development as a goal. The forum proved to be a visionary and international one. They expected that it could continue to focus on the sustainable development and have more communication and cooperation with Guizhou, so as to realize win-win cooperation. Foreign Affair Ministry's officials of relating bureaus and departments and people in charge of relating provincial departments participated in the forum.
Mr. Bernardino Regazzoni, Switzerland ambassador to China, said that this was the first time for him to visit Guizhou province and he had much to expect. China was a country with a large population and rich culture and Guizhou was a significant part of it. He said that the province boasted scenic beauty, rapidly-developing economy, progressing innovative industries and complete transportation infrastructure including expressway and high-speed train. He said that this year’s Eco Forum Global Guiyang would share it’s experience to protect ecology and environment and would contribute to the global ecological governance.
From July 12th to 15th, envoys from more than 20 countries and representatives of international organizations would visit places including National Big Data (Guizhou) ComprehensivePilot Zone and the Zunyi Conference sites and Gouba conference site as well as would see FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope).
