On July 2nd, the 6th Culture Minister Video Conference was Held among BRICS. The theme of the forum was “strengthen cultural bond and enhance cultural coordination”. Prahalad Singh Patel, state council of cultural minister, was the host. Attendees were Zhang Xu, China’s vice culture and tourism minister, vice minister responsible for cultural affairs of Brazil tourism ministry, Russia’s culture minister and Nathi Mthethwa, South Africa minister of sports, art and culture.
Zhang Xu said in his speech that people-to-people communication was an important content of cooperation between BRICS. In recent years, with the mechanisms of ministerial conference, people-to-people communication between BRICS had been flourishing in bilateral and multilateral relationship. Because we had passed “Cooperation Agreement Between BRICS” and it’s action plan, ministers had reached consensus in terms of innovative economic development, folk art communication, cultural heritage protection and other aspects; had decided to make full use of professional institutions including BRICS’s museums, art galleries, libraries and institutions for children's drama and carried out practical cooperation of all aspects, multi-levels and wide area, so as to connect people of five countries and to link five civilizations.
Zhang Xu said that to reach the aims of deepening people-to-people communication and solidifying the foundation of mutual value and interest, member states should do the following: creating a friendly atmosphere of equality, inclusiveness, communication and mutual learning; insisting that activities should be participated mainly by ordinary people and building the the public opinion foundation to enhance people-to-people exchanges and enriching content, adding more cultural cooperation forms while being innovative and sticking to the right path.
Delegates all agreed that we needed to make concerted effort, improve confidence and maintain the good momentum of people-to-people communication between BRICS. They said that against the background of the pandemic, the governments should find new ways to work together; make full use of digital methods and platforms and improve the cultural cooperation between BRICKS. Nathi Mthethwa, South Africa minister of sports, art and culture, sent his congratulation to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. “The Declaration of the 6th BRICKS Cultural Minister Conference”.
