In April, villages in the Ruian city had much to offer. Visitors could enjoy not only rural scenic beauty and flowers in bloom in spring, eating at rural feasts, buying rural products, but also experience all kinds of new projects! On the morning of April 25th, 2020 Wenzhou Rural Tourism Cultural Festival and Ruian Rural Tourism Carnival started in the Caocun town of Ruian city. Zhu Yunhua, director of Culture and Tourism Bureau of Wenzhou City, Qin Xiao, acting mayor and deputy secretary of Ruian City, Chi Wansong, vice mayor of Ruian Municiple Government and Hu Qiongzhou, deputy director of the Culture and Tourism of Wenzhou City, and other heads of governments attended the event. Other participators were representatives from culture and tourism enterprises those in charge of the Wenzhou city’s culture and tourism departments, of counties (cities and districts) and of Ruian’s counties and towns (streets).
The cultural festival and the carnival enriched and extended Wenzhou’s series of events in 2020 which was called “tourism in thousands of villages and live in thousands of farmer homes”. The aim was to upgrade and build beautiful rural areas; to support the integration of culture and tourism and of tourism and agriculture; to stimulate scenic economy and recover the industry of happiness; construct a platform to present new Wenzhou’s five aspects of beauty (namely, nature, economy, cities and towns, life and culture); create an opportunity to lead a new mode of consumption and promote the high-quality development of cultural and tourism industry.
In recently years, Ruian city had been attaching great importance to the development of rural tourism. Relying on distinctive culture and ecological resource, it used local culture to highlight it’s unique advantages so as to promote the development and prosperity of rural cultural and tourism industries. New vitality was injected to Ruian by projects and a series of local cultural and tourism festivals and celebrations, including beautiful villages of A-level scenic area, quality home stay clustered together for development, various agritainment, light festival in Caocun town and Rapeseed Flower Festival of Tongpu town. Ruian had already be introduced to tourists as a destination for rural tourism. Caocun town was an example set for the development of Rural tourism. It relied on ecological resource, aimed to be a town of “traditional culture, martial art and agriculture”. the whole town would be established as an integrated rural core scenic site with functions including rural entertainment, ecological tourism, outdoor sports, cultural experience and healthy trip during vacation.
In the launching ceremony, introduced to audience were products of the route for Wenzhou’s rural tourism cultural festival and activities of every stop, as well as 2020 Wenzhou cultural and tourism promotional video. The host also introduced high-standard tourism activities of every county (city and district), including rural fair, rural food, kite performance, experience in recreational vehicle, camping on grassland, outdoor movie and other outdoor rural programs. Tourists came with friends or families to enjoy their vacation in countryside on a vast field and get to know the essence of rural tour in Wenzhou.
In the early period, government in Ruian released cultural and tourism coupons worth 5 million yuan and information of a series of events including people-benefiting season of Ruian tourism, “tourism in thousands of villages and live in thousands of farmer homes” held with the government of Wenzhou city and “rural tourism in ten cities of Wenzhou” (Ruian stop). The cultural and tourism market had been effectively recovered and tourists were more willing to travel around.
Ruian was the first stop of 2020 Wenzhou Rural Tourism Cultural Festival. Following activities would start in Wencheng, Taishun and other cities. There would be more than 30 cultural festivals and celebrations, including “Ruian 2020 National Kite Cultural and Tourism Festival”, “the 3rd Zemeng Boat Cultural Festival on Nanxi River”, “Longwan District Zhuangyuan Wangyu Fish and Waxberry Festival” and “Wencheng Rural Cultural Tourism Festival”.
