On May 20th, 2020, Ma Zhaoxu, vice minister of foreign affairs, attended the launching ceremony of China’s donation project of the “Solidarity Response Fund” of WHO.
Li Jinhua, the vice chairman of the 11th National CPPCC and chairman of China Population Welfare Foundation, said that the project of “Solidarity Response Fund” in China could make full use of Chinese charity and social organizations to contribute to the global fight against the pandemic. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-general of the WHO, sent a video to convey his congratulation and to say thanks to China for participating the WHO-leading global fight against the pandemic.
“Solidarity Response Fund” was established by the WHO. It’s aim was to encourage individuals, enterprises and charities to donate financial resource to cope with the global pandemic. The donation would be used mainly for African countries with weak sanitary system. Chinese action relating to “Solidarity Response Fund” could reflect Xi Jinping’s ideology to build a community with a shared future for the sanitary and health of the mankind. China had been a part of the global fight against the pandemic and supporting the WHO to play a leading role in the international cooperation to cope with the pandemic. In addition, Chinese government has offered a 50-million-dollars assistance to the WHO.
