From October 17^th to 19^th of 2020, foreign diplomats and ambassadors to China visited Wenzhou City, including Slovakia ambassador, Costa Rica ambassador, Afghanistan ambassador, Mauritius ambassador, Nepal minister, consul general of Denmark in Shanghai, consul general of Iran in Shanghai, science consul of Consulate General of Russia in Shanghai, science consul of Consulate General of Brazil in Shanghai, public affairs consul of Consulate General of South Korea in Shanghai and the people in charge of the education department of Ireland Embassy in China. They came to attend events including the opening ceremony and 2020 World Young Scientist Summit as well as the finals of 2020 University Startup World Cup.

    In the afternoon of October 17^th, Yao Gaoyuan, mayer and deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of Wenzhou City, met the delegation. He expressed his warm welcome to them and brief them on the development of the city’s economy and society. He said that there’s a large space for cooperation due to Wenzhou’s close relationship with other countries. He hoped to have practical and long-term communication; to deepen trade and industrial cooperation and carry out people-to-people cooperation so as to realize win-win communication and cooperation of wider area, deeper level and higher standard. Delegates exchanged their ideas on how to push forward practical communication and cooperation with Wenzhou. Others attended the meeting included Yin Zhijun, vice mayor of Wenzhou, Chen Jun, secretary general of the government, Lei Wendong, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the municipal government, and Zhou Huaizhong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office.

    In the afternoon of October 18^th, the delegation visited Jiangxin Island (literally the island in the heart of a lake) and Wumajie Street (a famous business street with more than 1600 years of history); started a tour on Oujiang River at night as well as saw the city construction and the reconstruction of historical and cultural districts and streets. Dusan Bella, Slovakia ambassador to China, said that Wenzhou was more and more beautiful and he was looking forward to his next visit despite that he had already came to this place three times. Rodrigo Delgado Soto, Costa Rica ambassador to China, said that he had learned the reputation of the people in Wenzhou a long time ago, knowing that they had been famous for their hard work. Wenzhou left a good impression on him. He hoped to deepen the cooperation between Wenzhou and Costa Rica and people from Wenzhou were also welcomed to participate the infrastructure construction in Costa Rica.

    On October 19^th, the delegation went to Yongjia County for an inspection. Wang Jinyan, deputy county head, met them as well as introduced and promoted the county. They visited Yongjia Academy, Zhejiang Boteli Technology CO.,LTD and Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group CO.,LTD. Boteli Technology CO.,LTD chose to step on the road of digitization and intellectualization and the valves it produced were used for facilities of Iran's oil fields. Ramazan Parvaz, consul general of Iran in Shanghai, was born in Ahvaz which was Iran’s oil production area. He said he was willing to help enterprises from Wenzhou to expand the market in Iran. Su Yujie, innovation official of Innovation Centre Denmark, wished to have opportunities to cooperate with “Yalong” to expand new market. Javid Ahamad Qaem, Afghanistan ambassador to China, was deeply attracted by the culture and the scenic beauty of Yongjia Academy. He expressed that he liked Wenzhou very much and was looking forward to launch cooperation in terms of trade, economy, education, medical treatment and other aspects, so as to promote mutual development of both parties.

    The ambassadors’ visit was an important measure taken by the government of Wenzhou to make full use of foreign affairs resource to create a first-class business environment and to improve the international level of the city.
