On November 12th of the 2020, Qin Gang, vice foreign minister, attended the reception to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Denmark in Denmark’s embassy to China.
In his speech, Qin Gang sent his congratulation to China and Denmark for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship. Denmark was one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic relationship with China and the only country in Northern Europe to engage in a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China. Confucius, an influential ideologist in ancient China, once said that “at seventy, I could follow my heart's desire without overstepping the line”. The 70 years of history proved that our bilateral relationship could develop in a sustainable and healthy way as long as we deepened political mutual trust; cared for each other’s core interests and major concerns as well as adhered to principles of equality and mutual respect. In the May of this year, heads of China and Denmark sent messages for congratulation to each other. They also reached the consensus that the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership could enjoy further development as long as we saw the 70th anniversary as a new starting point.
Qin Gang said that in the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, an overall plan was made for China’s development in the future. China was resolved to be more open to the outside world and Denmark would be welcomed to seize the opportunity to participate the process to build and develop China. China was willing to work hand in hand with Denmark to grab the chance of the 70th anniversary to stick to mutual-respect and mutual trust; to have more communication; to expand cooperation; to safeguard multilateralism; to face global challenges like the climate change and to promote world’s peace, stability and prosperity.
Jeppe Kofod, Danish Foreign Minister, and Thomas Østrup Møller, Danish ambassador to China, said in speeches delivered in the video and on site that the friendship between China and Denmark had a long history. The Denmark was willing to strengthen it’s comprehensive strategic partnership with China. On the basis of the Danish-Chinese joint work programme, Denmark was also willing to deepen it’s cooperation with China in term of trade, investment, coping with the climate change, green sustainable development, food and health, so as to realize the sustainable development goal stipulated by the UN and push the bilateral relationship in the future.
