On May 4th, tourism ministers of G20 hold Tourism Ministerial Meeting through video to discuss the recovery and development of world tourism after the pandemic. The theme is “improving the inclusiveness, tenacity and sustainable development of the development and recovery of tourism” with 7 issues including people’s travel safety, risk management, tenacity increase, inclusiveness increase, green transformation, digital transformation and investment and infrastructure. The host is Massimo Garavaglia, tourism minister of Italy and attendees are tourism ministers and representatives of G20 as well as people in charge of World Tourism Organization, OECD, WTTC as well as other international organizations and trade associations.
Hu Heping, China’s cultural and tourism minister, says in his speech that since 2020 when Covid-19 spread in the world, Chinese government and people have been following the orders of the president Xi Jinping and have had huge success through working together and spending effort. China’s pandemic prevention and control have became regular moves and have been developing towards a more steady and promising situation. Vaccination is also available in a large area. People are more willing to travel and purchase. In the pandemic control and tourism recovery, China has speed up the construction of smart tourism, smart tourism spot and smart service platform with features of being digital, network-based and intelligent. The next step is to complete infrastructure of tourism information, expand applying areas and educate stuff members so as to promote smart tourism and inject vitality into it’s recovery. China will follow president Xi Jinping’s advice given in the summit of G20 in the November of 2020. Chinese government will better connect it’s policies and standards with those of other countries, build “quick channels” for people to travel between our countries and establish a mechanism of international health code based on the result of nucleic acid tests.
It’s a consensus of all delegates that tourism is important for global economic recovery and is a key driving force of sustainable development and balanced growth. Every party should enhance international cooperation and speed up tourism recovery so as to enable tourism development to be more sustainable, inclusive and resist to difficulties. The meeting has passed Rome communique and it’s appended documents of Suggestions on the Green Transformation of Tourism Economy and The G20 Rome Guide to Action on the Future of Tourism.
