On September 23rd, Luo Shugang, minister of Culture and Tourism, met with Mexico's Minister of Tourism Miguel Torruco in Beijing.
Luo Shugang spoke positively of the tourism relations between China and Mexico. He noted that recent years have witnessed the good development momentum of China-Mexico ties with closer bilateral tourism exchanges and cooperation. In 2018, the mutual visits of tourists between two sides maintained double-digit growth. Mexico has become the largest tourism destination of Chinese tourists and second biggest source of foreign visitors in Latin America thanks to the joint efforts made by tourism administrations and groups of both sides. Moreover, there is huge potential for the two countries to pursue bilateral cooperation as two ancient civilizations have unique and rich cultures. We are willing to further reinforce practical cooperation with Mexico so as to achieve mutual benefits, offer two peoples even the world with quality cultural and tourism products, enhance cultural exchanges and mutual learning and boost people-to-people connectivity.
Minister Torruco extended great thanks to Minister Luo Shugang for his attention and care in China-Mexico tourism cooperation. Meanwhile, he said that Mexico attaches much importance to tourism cooperation with China, and is willing to further reinforce tourism cooperation by attending China Tourism Exhibition, promoting cooperation between communities, advancing the opening of direct flights and improving Chinese tourist’s experience in Mexico.
Both sides have reached extensive consensus on encouraging mutual tourism visits, promoting tourism and deepening cooperation under the framework of multilateral mechanisms.
