A conference on friendly exchanges in culture and tourism takes place in Phnom Penh
On June 5th, a conference on friendly exchanges in culture and tourism, as a major event of the “China-Cambodia Culture and Tourism 2019” activities, was held at the Diamond Island's Grand Theater. It was co-hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Chinese Embassy to Cambodia as well as Cambodian Ministries of Tourism, Culture and Arts. Chinese Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism Zhang Xu, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian and Cambodian Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister Bin Chhin and Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon also attended the event and delivered speeches. Besides, nearly 3000 people including Chinese delegation comprising friendly envoys from 41 tourism companies in 21 provinces, and representatives of Chinese companies in Cambodia, overseas Chinese, media, Cambodian tourism fields and young students, also attended the event.
“Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries, China and Cambodia have witnessed sustained development in comprehensive strategic partnership under the right guidance of two leaders.” said Zhang Xu in his speech. China will implement the Asian tourism promotion plan proposed by President Xi Jinping in the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations. The 2019 “China-Cambodia Culture and Tourism Year” activities enable cultural and tourism cooperation to be the new highlights of bilateral ties.
Wang Wentian said, the conference on friendly cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Cambodia is an unprecedented event. It is an significant part of building China-Cambodia community with a share future that demonstrates the outcomes of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and promotes the implementation of Promotion Plan for Asian Tourism. The “China-Cambodia Culture and Tourism Year 2019” activities will contribute to promoting mutual learning between China and Cambodia and enhancing people’s connectivity as well as inheriting and spreading traditional China-Cambodia friendship.
Bin Chhin, who spoke highly of the conference, believed that it fully demonstrated the fact that the Cambodia-China traditional friendly ties are making new progress with the care of leaders of two sides. The conference will not only promote exchanges and cooperation in culture and tourism, but also deepen traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, thus laying a solid foundation for sustained and prudent bilateral cooperation.
Thong Khon warmly welcomed Chinese delegation of friendly envoys to Cambodia. He said, this conference will further promote exchanges and cooperation in culture, tourism and economy so as to build important cultural foundation of Cambodia-China community for a shared future.
Culture serves as a bridge of exchanges between two peoples, and an important foundation for building a community with a shared future and achieving peaceful co-existence and common development. It is believed that this event will further deepen the mutual understanding between two countries and enhance traditional friendship.
After the event, a welcoming reception was held by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism for friendly Chinese delegation. On June 5th, both sides held a large fair for tourism and business in the Diamond Island's Exhibition Center with more than 200 people of tourism enterprises involved to explore new measures for long-term cooperation.
