Weifang Kite Exhibition and Cultural Exchange Activities are held in Mauritius

On May 26th, Weifang Kite Exhibition and Cultural Exchange Activities, which were one of the series of 2019 Mauritius-China Tourism and Culture Week and the 14th Dragon Boat Festival celebrations, were held in Flic-en-Flac, a seaside small town on the western part of Mauritius.

The activities showcased China’s cultural and natural landscapes and fine traditional Chinese culture through extensive cultural experiences, such as the training of making Weifang kite, kite exhibition, cultural and creative products, clothes show, Weifang tourism video. These activities promote friendly cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius.
More than 200 people including Minister of Arts and Culture of Mauritius Roopun, Minister of Social Integration and Economic Empowerment Wong Yen Cheong, Chargé D' affaires Gong Yufeng, and other officials of Chinese Embassy, as well as local friendly guests, attended the opening ceremony.
Minister Roopun said in his speech that the Chinese community is an important part of the peaceful coexistence of many ethnic groups in Mauritius. Flying kites is one of the favorite activities of the Mauritian people. 
“Kite is one of symbols of excellent traditional Chinese culture. The various exquisite kites provided by Weifang delegation demonstrate China’s long history and splendid culture.” said Song Yanqun, cultural counselor of Chinese Embassy to Mauritius.
The event was jointly held by Chinese Embassy to Mauritius, China Culture Center in Mauritius and the Mauritania Ministry of Arts and Culture. The following Dragon Boat Festival events includes intangible heritage exhibition, cultural and arts gala and square celebrations.
