On February 21st, Luo Shugang, minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, met with Saudi Arabian Minister of Information Turki. They exchanged views on cultural exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Arab States Cooperation Forum as well as China-Saudi Arabia high-level joint committee.
Luo Shugang welcomed their visit to the third meeting of the China-Saudi Arabia high-level joint committee, noting that the bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation have been increasingly deepened and the positive achievements have been made because of the great attention by two countries in recent years. In October 2018, Prince Badr, Saudi minister of Culture and chairman of Saudi Arabian delegation, attended the Fourth Minister Conference of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, and the Najam Ethnic Orchestra engaged in the closing ceremony of the Fourth Arabic Arts Festival; in January 2019, Chinese pianist Langlang and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra participated in the arts festival of the Winter of Tantura and held a special concert, making its debut in Saudi Arabia. It is hoped that both sides could further strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, expand the scale of visits and consolidate the development of China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Turki spoke highly of the unremitting efforts made by Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism for pushing forward cultural exchanges and cooperation of both sides, and was willing to work jointly with China to pursue a deep cultural relation between China and Saudi Arabia, and enhance the traditional friendship between two peoples.
