On the evening of September 27th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 China International Confucius Culture Festival and the awarding ceremony of the 20th "UNESCO Confucius Education Prize" were held in Nishan, Qufu.
Lin Wu, Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, delivered a speech. Luo Shugang, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Director of the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee, attended the event. Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and Governor of Shandong Province, presided over the meeting. Ge Huijun, chairperson of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Yang Dongqi, Deputy Director and secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress, attended.
This event, themed "Great Confucius: Harmony and Coexistence", aims to implement this important initiative, promote peaceful, harmonious and harmonious coexistence among different countries and ethnic groups, and advance the establishment of a more just and reasonable global governance system. Stephanie Gianini, Assistant Director-General for Education of UNESCO, delivered a video speech, and Professor Mok Soon Chong, a senior advocate of Chinese language education and Confucian culture in Malaysia, also delivered a speech.
At the opening ceremony, the awarding ceremony of the 20th "UNESCO Confucius Education Prize" was held, the "Follow Confucius for Study Tours" series of activities were launched, and the achievements of the "Confucius in My Eyes" global Z-generation text, image and short video collection activity were displayed. The opening ceremony also featured a theatrical performance, showcasing the profound heritage and contemporary value of Confucian culture, and vividly telling the stories of Confucius and China to the world.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Grenada to China, Ma Yan, the Fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, and provincial leaders Bai Yugang, Fan Bo, Song Junji, Nuan Wen and Duan Qingying.
Diplomatic envoys from multiple countries in China, representatives of international organizations, international friends and representatives of experts and scholars; Responsible officials from relevant state ministries and commissions, some provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, and responsible officials from various cities in Shandong Province and relevant provincial departments (units) attended.
