On July 3rd, the 2025 China Original Folk Song Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, opened in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Wang Lixia, Chairperson of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Rao Quan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism and Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and Bao Gang, member of the Standing Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Hohhot Municipal Committee, attended.

The folk song festival kicked off with the melodious singing of the pastoral song. The opening performance was meticulously arranged with chapters such as "The Long Song of Chile", "The Joyful Song of the Fields", "The Song of the Mountains and Rivers", and "The Ode to The Times". The inheritors expressed their love for life, their homeland and the motherland through their songs. The audience on the spot deeply felt the unique charm of local folk songs in the wonderful duets and choruses.

This folk song festival, themed "Original Celestial Melodies of Folk Songs and Chinese Sentiment", saw the participation of nearly 400 people from 65 teams across the country in the performance. The programs included 42 national-level and 23 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects, featuring both widely sung classic folk songs and innovatively adapted characteristic pieces. Vividly showcase the protection achievements of China's traditional music intangible cultural heritage in the process of innovation and development through inheritance.

During the Folk Song Festival, performance teams from various regions will form small teams with local Ulanmuqis in Inner Mongolia and travel to Hohhot, Ulanqab and Ordos. They will enter local squares, campuses, pastoral areas, scenic spots and streets to carry out six concentrated performances and eight grassroots performances benefiting the people, presenting a series of audio-visual feasts to citizens and tourists. The closing performance will be held in Hohhot on July 6th.
