The 14th U.S.-China High-Level Dialogue on Tourism opened in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province on the 22nd. State Councilor Chen Yiqin attended the opening ceremony, she read out President Xi Jinping's letter to this year's High-Level Dialogue and delivered a speech.
Chen Yiqin pointed out that President Xi Jinping's letter fully reflects the great importance he attaches to China-U.S. relations and expresses his earnest expectation for deepening China-U.S. tourism cooperation. Organizing the China-US High-level Dialogue on Tourism is an initiative to implement the important consensus of the San Francisco meeting between the two heads of state, which will certainly strongly promote the resumption of the development of China-US tourism cooperation to a new level.
Chen Yiqin said China will uphold the spirit of President Xi Jinping's letter, implement the Global Civilization Initiative, and is willing to work with the US to deepen tourism cooperation, promote people-to-people exchanges, expand humanistic exchanges, lead the mutual understanding of civilizations, and continue to push forward exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, education, sports, and youth, so as to make a positive contribution to the development of a healthy, stable, and sustainable China-US relationship. China warmly welcomes tourists from all countries, including those from the United States, to come to China, and will make efforts to enhance the level of facilitation for foreigners to travel, work and live in China.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce Grant Harris read a message from U.S. President Joe Biden and delivered a speech. Nearly 400 representatives of governments, organizations, localities and enterprises of the two countries attended the dialogue. Before the opening ceremony, Chen Yiqin met collectively with representatives of the U.S. tourism industry.
