On September 10th, a tourism promotion presenting Zhejiang Province was held in Lisbon, capital city of Portugal. During the event, Zhejiang impressed the guests with its beautiful natural landscapes and cultural resources.
Xu Peng, deputy head of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, introduced Zhejiang’s unique tourism resources. At the same time, he welcomed Portuguese tourists to visit Zhejiang where they could have a close encounter with local customs and conditions. As a major province of culture and economy in China, Zhejiang is willing to contribute to cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Portugal.
Maria Joo Pereira, director of international department under Portuguese National Tourism Administration, expressed that tourism serves as an important pillar industry of Portugal. In recent years, the number of Chinese tourists to Portugal has surged on a large scale with a new high in the first half of this year. She hoped that Portugal could become one of the most popular destinations among Chinese tourists when Portugal-China airline route reopens.
On August 30th, Portugal and China reopened Lisbon-Xian-Beijing airline route to replace Lisbon-Beijing-Hangzhou route terminated in 2018.
More than 100 guests including officials of Chinese Embassy to Portugal, Portuguese personages from political and tourism communities as well as representatives of overseas Chinese, were present in the opening ceremony.
