On April 18th, just after the Sri Lankan New Year, the Sri Lanka Chinese Cultural Center welcomed dozens of Sri Lankan local artists, who gathered together to take part in the "Lanting - Yaji" art salon held by the Sri Lanka Chinese Cultural Center. In the small courtyard of the Cultural Center, the breeze was gentle and the grass and trees were green, which made the visiting artists feel the artistic atmosphere of "Heaven and earth are born together with me, and all things are one with me".

Li Yu, a Chinese painting teacher living in Sri Lanka, demonstrated the techniques of Chinese brush and ink painting for Sri Lankan artists, leading them into the world of traditional Chinese brush and ink. The promotional video of "Lanting - Yaji" was also shown at the event. Calligraphy teacher Wang Li spoke from the mood of ancient Chinese calligraphy to the innovative expression of modern art in traditional Chinese brush and ink painting, vividly introduced to the guests the ancient Chinese calligraphy artists' reverence and yearning for nature into the landscape, and finally talked about the importance of the running script of the The Orchid Pavilion in the history of Chinese calligraphy, as well as the scene of Wang Xizhi drinking and composing poems with his friends in the The Picture of Orchid Pavilion.

In order to let the Sri Lankan artists feel more intuitively the marvelous fusion of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy with nature, the two teachers, Wang Li and Li Yu, also cooperated on the scene to create a fan artwork with the theme of "lotus leaves". Under the guidance of the two teachers, Sri Lankan artists have picked up the brush to experience the artistic characteristics of Chinese painting, and with ink and brush on the fan to create a piece of Sri Lankan artistic characteristics of the paintings, each of the artists have let the calligraphy teacher to add a red seal on their own fan work, and write down their names in Chinese, everyone is happy to bring back their fan works.

Andy from the Sri Lankan College of Art said: "This is my first time getting so close to contact with Chinese calligraphy, I fell in love with Chinese calligraphy and pen and ink painting through my own personal experience, I hope that the Cultural Center can hold more of such salon activities, so that more artists in Sri Lanka can feel the charm of Chinese calligraphy up close." Artist Sharima took his fan work and said: "This activity is too interesting, I only saw Chinese calligraphy in the video before, this activity can also take the brush and ink on the fan to create, the fan can also be used to eliminate heat, it is very practical, the Chinese people's imagination is too rich."

This year, the Cultural Center will also organize a series of activities on the theme of Chinese calligraphy and Chinese painting in the form of "Lanting - Yaji" public classes and art salons for Sri Lankan primary and secondary school students and local artists, so that more Sri Lankan people can have a close experience of the charm of the art of Chinese calligraphy and Chinese painting, and feel the elegance and interest of the life of the Chinese literati.
