Tasting tea, enjoying Chinese paintings, singing folk songs and watching costume shows, Chinese cultural elements brightened up the reception for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania, and the Tanzania Chinese Cultural Center once again helped and added luster to the friendship between China and Tanzania.

On April 15, the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation jointly organized a reception to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania. More than 400 people attended the reception, including Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian, Tanzanian Foreign Minister Makamba, Tanzanian People's Defense Forces  Commander Mkunda, and other high-level dignitaries and friends from all walks of life, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions in Tanzania, Chinese-funded institutions in Tanzania, and Chinese nationals overseas.

The Chinese and Tanzanian guests watched the "60th Anniversary of China-Tanzania Diplomatic Relations Photo Exhibition" and the propaganda video, and experienced the traditional Chinese culture.

Yaji has always been an event for literati to meet with spring. The "Tea for Harmony - Yaji" and "Lanting - Yaji" promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China have spread their charms all over the world, describing China's unique and exquisite lifestyle to the world. Tanzania China Cultural Center once again demonstrated the elegance of Chinese culture at the reception for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania, making the cultural atmosphere of this event even more intense.

A tea table was specially set up at the entrance of the venue, and the Cultural Center invited Dai Shenqiao, a tea culture enthusiast, to give a superb tea performance for the guests. China has a long history of tea culture. Traditional Chinese tea-making techniques and their related customs have been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage. Spring water can boil tea, and tea is for harmony of the world.

A Chinese traditional culture booth was set up in the hall outside the reception, condensing poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal cutting into a small space. Yang Qiao, a teacher from Tanzania Chinese Cultural Center, showed Chinese and Tanzanian guests calligraphy, Chinese painting and seal cutting, which enhanced the atmosphere of the event with a strong cultural flavor. Several guests who had developed a strong interest in seal carving had Chinese red printed on their souvenir books.

In addition to the tea ceremony and cultural booths, the Cultural Center also organized two performances——Chinese costume show and Chinese-Tanzanian song chorus. Six sets of traditional costumes of different ethnic groups were displayed among more than 400 Chinese and Tanzanian guests, reflecting the elegance of the Chinese nation and the tolerance and diversity of Chinese culture. The guests were able to experience the new flavor of Chinese fashion from different dimensions. The flash singing of Chinese song Jasmine Flower and Spanish song Angel pushed the atmosphere of the venue to a climax again, and the deep friendship between Chinese and Tanzanian people echoed in the venue along with the melodious melody.

In the 1960s, the leaders of the older generation of China and Tanzania jointly created and carefully spread the friendship between China and Tanzania, which is a strategic resource and a valuable asset for the two countries' everlasting relations. Over the past 60 years, no matter how the international situation changes, China and Tanzania have always supported each other and shared happiness and difficulties. At the reception, Mr. Chen Mingjian looked forward to a bright future in the new era, saying that standing at the new historical starting point of continuing China-Tanzania relations, the two countries should continue to be friends of sincere mutual trust, partners of mutual benefit, and epitome of exchange and mutual understanding.

Che Zhaoguang, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania and Director of the Tanzania Chinese Cultural Center, said that the Cultural Center will continue to make more efforts for further civilization exchanges and mutual understanding between China and Tanzania in this new year of friendship between China and Tanzania and continue to promote the excellent Chinese culture to the world, and work with the people of the two countries for a bright future.
