Bama Yao Autonomous County, dubbed as Longevity Town of the World, is a county in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region under the administration of Hechi City.  Situated in the northwest of Guangxi covering a total area of 1971 square kilometers, there lived 12 ethnic groups, including Yao, Zhuang, and Han Chinese, with a total population of 270,000 as of 2012. It borders several other counties, like Baise, Tianyang, Tiandong, Pingguo, Dahua, Donglan, Fengshan and Lingyun. Northwest Bama is higher than its southeast and there are more mountains than arable land. It is said that in every ten pieces of land, eight of them are mountains, one water and another arable land. Therefore, the local farmers cherish their farmland very much. Cozy Queen, the indigenous spring, became world-famous as it was recommended by National Geographic to be the best among the world’s Top 10 spa springs.

Bama, in which the percentage of centenarians in the total population is the highest among the five world longevity towns, is dubbed as the Longevity Town of the World & the Holy Land of Centenarians in China. Statistics from the second to the fifth nationwide census show that the percentage of centenarians in Bama’s total population is the highest among the five world longevity towns. It is also the Home of Scent Swine and in 2005, the trademark of Bama Scent Swine was protected via National Geographic. In 2012, the downtown of Bama County covers an area of 8 square kilometers with 60,000 residents.
