Yangzhou is a prefecture-level city in central Jiangsu province in the People's Republic of China. Sitting on the northern bank of the Yangtze River, it borders the provincial capital of Nanjing to the southwest, Chuzhou of Anhui Province to the west, Huai'an to the north, Yancheng to the northeast, Taizhou to the east, and Zhenjiang across the river to the south. It is a key city in Nanjing Metropolitan Area and Shanghai Economic Circle and is the eastern water source of South-to-North Water Diversion, a key national project. To the south, its economy spreads to the southern cities of Jiangsu Province as well as Shanghai; to the north, it is a hub to develop northern cities in Jiangsu Province, known as the Famous City East of Huaihe River And West of a Stretch of Bamboo. The city history of Yangzhou dates back to 486 B.C.. It is a famous historical and cultural city in China, wining many city awards, such as the UN Most Habitable City, China’s Most Habitable City, National Environment-Protection Model City, China’s Harmoniously Administered City, National Civilized City, National Forest City, National City of Poetry and China’s Famous Hot Spring City.
