Secretary General Participated in South Africa’s National Day Reception

On April 26, 2024, Chen Xiaodong, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Cui Jianghong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary General of the Cultural Exchange Organization of Presenting China to the World, were invited by H.E. Mr. Xie Shengwen, Ambassador of South Africa to China, to attend the National Day Reception held by the Embassy of South Africa to celebrate the 30th anniversary of South Africa's democracy and freedom. The theme of the reception was Thirty Years of Democracy, Partnership and Growth, and Chinese and foreign guests, including ambassadors from various countries and representatives of some international organizations in China, attended the event.

Chen congratulated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the new South Africa, spoke highly of South Africa's development achievements and contributions to world prosperity and stability, and said that in recent years, under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Ramaphosa, the relationship between China and South Africa has realized a leapfrog development, and opened up a new era of constructing a high-level China-South Africa community of shared destiny. In this September, the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in Beijing. China is ready to work with South Africa to create a better tomorrow for China-South Africa and China-Africa relationships.

South Africa's Ambassador in China Xie Shengwen thanked the CPC and the Chinese people for their important contribution to the relations between the two countries, highly appreciated President Xi Jinping's successful visit to South Africa again in August last year, and said that South Africa and China have great potential for cooperation in various fields, and that South Africa is willing to work together with the Chinese side to strengthen the political, economic and humanistic exchanges between the two countries and to promote the greater development of the South Africa-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. South Africa will continue to play a constructive role in international organizations such as the United Nations, the G20 and the BRICS.
