On January 10, the Third China Xinjiang International Art Biennale, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, opened in Urumqi. Lu Yingchuan, member of the party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, delivered a speech via video, and Sun Hongmei, vice chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, attended the opening ceremony.

Lu Yingchuan said, China Xinjiang International Art Biennale is a pragmatic initiative to implement the spirit of the Third Central Xinjiang Work Conference and the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping's visit to Xinjiang, which demonstrates the self-confidence, openness and inclusiveness of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, and has become an important platform for inheriting the spirit of the Silk Road, enhancing the international influence of Chinese culture, and telling China's story well. With the theme of "Harmony and Coexistence", the Biennale, adhering to the concept of harmony and difference, mutual appreciation and reciprocity, will make a positive contribution to the "Belt and Road". The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been implementing the "Cultural Xinjiang" strategy, promoting the development of culture and tourism in Xinjiang, and organizing a series of cultural exchange brand projects, such as the Culture and Tourism Counterpart Aid for Xinjiang Work Conference and the "Xinjiang is a Good Place" Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition of 19 provinces and municipalities that have provided assistance to Xinjiang.  Xinjiang's foreign cultural exchanges have been given richer connotations through a broad international perspective, and the reputation of "Xinjiang is a good place" has been spread around the world.

This year's Biennale will last until February 25, during which it will present three main exhibitions: "Civilization and Intermingling", "Symbiosis and Dialogue", "Ecology and Homeland", as well as the exhibitions of "Bio-Xinjiang"--Research Exhibition of Xinjiang Thematic Works since the 20th Century, "Between Heaven and Earth: Tradition and Reproduction of Chinese Contemporary Ink Painting" exhibition and other special exhibitions.
