On September 1, 2023, a series of activities for the establishment of the Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance was successfully held in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province. The activities included the inauguration ceremony of the Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance, the 2023 "Silk Road Cities International Forum on Culture and Tourism Development" and the "Charming Silk Road Connecting the World——Silk Road Tourism Cities Joint Promotion Exhibition".
Mr. Lu Yingchuan, member of the party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Wang Shaoxuan, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, Mr. Siyabonga, Ambassador of South Africa in China, Mr. Liu Feng, secretary of Jingdezhen Municipal Party Committee, and Mr. U Than Htun Oo, mayor of Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, representatives of the overseas members, attended the inauguration ceremony of the alliance and delivered speeches. Lumez delivered a keynote speech. The Jingdezhen Declaration was signed and released at the event. More than 350 people attended the event, including representatives of envoys in China, member cities at home and abroad, experts and scholars, industry associations, representatives of cultural industry and tourism.
Lu Yingchuan expressed his sincere congratulations on the establishment of the Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance. He pointed out that ten years ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the major initiative of building the "Belt and Road". The Silk Road spirit of "peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual appreciation, mutual benefit and win-win situation" is everlasting and worthy of being inherited and carried forward. China is ready to work with all parties to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of tourism and to promote humanistic exchanges in various fields, including science and technology, education, health and sports, so as to make new contributions to the implementation of the global civilization initiative.
Wang Shaoxuan said, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the co-construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the Silk Road Tourism City Alliance was formally established in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, it will not only inject new momentum to the Silk Road tourism city cooperation, but also provide a new platform for Jiangxi to comprehensively expand the pattern of opening up and humanistic exchanges. Jiangxi is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries and cities along the Silk Road, create a Silk Road tourism brand, share the Silk Road tourism market.
Liu Feng said, Jingdezhen is a well-known international porcelain capital, an important source of the Maritime Silk Road, and an important bridge to promote the world's civilization exchange and mutual understanding since ancient times. As the first rotating chair city of the alliance, Jingdezhen will bear in mind the mandate of General Secretary Xi Jinping "to build a good Jingdezhen National Ceramic Culture Inheritance and Innovation Pilot Zone, and create a new platform for cultural exchanges with the outside world", and deeply integrate into the construction of the "Belt and Road", and work together with other member cities to write a new chapter of international city cooperation and development.
The Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance is initiated by the Center for Chinese and Foreign Cultural Exchanges of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with domestic and foreign tourism cities, aiming to build a long-term cooperation mechanism for the exchange and cooperation in the field of tourism between Chinese and foreign cities along the Silk Road, including the Silk Road, guided by the spirit of the Silk Road and based on the principle of joint construction and sharing. The alliance intends to promote the sustainable development of tourism in member cities through a series of thematic activities such as international forums, joint promotions and industrial docking. So far, 58 cities from China and 26 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and America have joined the alliance as founding members.
