Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria Successfully Held 10th Anniversary Celebration

On August 20, 2023, the Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria held its 10th anniversary celebration and media appreciation party. Hu Heping, Vice Minister for Daily Work of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Culture and Tourism, led a delegation to attend the event, which was attended by 350 people, including Cui Jianchun, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Onwudiwi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy of Nigeria, as well as representatives of the two countries' political circles, cultural and artistic circles, and journalists from the media.

In his speech, Minister Hu Heping congratulated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria, thanked people from all walks of life who cared about and supported the construction of the Center and China-Nigeria humanistic exchanges and cooperation, and said that the CCCN had played a positive role in serving the overall situation of China-Nigeria relations, deepening the traditional friendship between the two peoples, and promoting China-Nigeria-Africa friendship. He pointed out that to deepen China-Nigeria cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation, it is necessary to strengthen ideological and cultural exchanges, promote civilization exchanges and mutual understanding, strengthen cooperation of art institutions and cultural industry cooperation. China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism is willing to continue to work with the Nigerian side to promote extensive cooperation in the field of culture and tourism between the two countries, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria is an opportunity to improve the mechanism of cooperation, broaden the field of cooperation, promote understanding through exchanges, increase friendship through cooperation, and make new and greater contributions to the development of the Sino-Nigerian strategic partnership, and to build a China-Africa community of shared destiny in the new era.

On behalf of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Permanent Secretary Onwudiwe congratulated the Nigeria China Cultural Center on its 10th anniversary. She appreciated the key role of the Center in promoting the relationship and humanistic exchanges between the two countries and said that the Nigerian government will further concretize the cooperation mechanism with China to elevate the bilateral relationship to a new height.

At the celebration, the Central National Orchestra, together with the Nigerian Oblitz Orchestra and other cultural and artistic groups, gave a wonderful performance for the audience, sharing Chinese culture and playing the common music of Nigeria and China through art forms. Chinese traditional instruments such as guzheng, flute, erhu, etc. and Nigerian modern orchestral instruments as well as Nigerian traditional instruments played the famous songs of China and Nigeria together on the same stage, which filled the performance with a warm atmosphere of harmony and unity. The pleasant Chinese national music and colorful Nigerian art interpreted the beautiful vision of the two countries and pushed the celebration to a climax.

During the celebration, the Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria also launched its 10th Anniversary Photo Exhibition, with a total of 40 pictures selected from the many activities held at the Center in recent years, including lectures, forums, teaching, training, competitions, exhibitions, etc. Moments of the activities tells the wonderful story of the Center's efforts in promoting humanistic exchanges between China and Nigeria.
