The Chinese culture runs a long history and Chinese civilization is extensive and profound. At the symposium on cultural inheritance and development, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that in the new era, the cultural mission is to continuously promote cultural prosperity, build a country steeped in culture and establish modern civilization of the Chinese nation. We need to strengthen cultural confidence, shoulder responsibilities and make remarkable achievements and work in joint efforts to create new culture corresponding to the era and modern civilization.

Stick to our own path to boost rapid development of cultural industries. “Without strong cultural confidence and prosperous culture, national rejuvenation is impossible.” Developing cultural industries is an important part of building a socialist country steeped in culture. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi at its core has paid great attention to cultural causes, which leads to historical achievements and revolutions in this respect. According to Report on the Development of National Culture and Related Industries in 2022 by the National Bureau of Statistics, culture and related industries continued to expand in scales and saw revenues of more than 16.5 trillion yuan. So it has become new drivers of economic growth.

Stick to our own path to deliver more benefits to the public by hosting cultural activities. Culture has become a standard of a happy life as it can strengthen cohesion among the public and improve people’s well-being. As people get richer, they have had higher spiritual demands. In recent years, as many places have established stations dedicated to hosting civilization activities and offered voluntary services by hosting performance, providing healthcare services and enriching the farmers with science and technology, people have seen great increases in their sense of fulfillment, happiness and safety.  Statistics show that during  the 13th Five-Year Plan, the number of  registered museums increased to 5788 from 4692. Visiting museums has been a necessity of a happy life. 

Stick to our own path to improve cultural confidence. Cultural confidence is more basic, more profound and more extensive. So far, 43 projects have been listed in UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, making China the world’s No.1.This could not only promote cultural inheritance but also enable its wisdom and ideas to go beyond time and border.For instance, China’s Lunar New Year has already spread across the board and gradually become an international festival. Driven by the strength of construction and reforms, culture has boosted national dignity, independence and confidence. 

“The development of culture is linked to the destiny of a country and the inheritance of culture correlated to the development of a state.”The Report of the 20th NPC made it clear that we should strengthen cultural confidence and independence to create splendor in socialist culture. Now the world is undergoing changes unseen in a century and China is in the key period of achieving national rejuvenation. At the new historical starting point, to promote cultural prosperity, build a country rooted in culture and establish modern civilization, we should further enhance cultural confidence and establish a sound system of public cultural service and cultural industries. We believe that by telling Chinese stories well, dealing with domestic affairs effectively and enhancing the influence, cohesion and appeal of Chinese civilization, our national spirit will be stronger.
