A prosperous culture is the prerequisite for a prosperous country and nationality. Without high-level cultural confidence and prosperous culture, there’s no great Chinese nation. Since the 18^th CPC national congress, general secretary Xi Jinping has brought up a series of major theories and ideas full of original, time and national characteristics. The national conference on publicity and ideological work, Xi Jinping gave an interpretation about “cultural prosperity” which were fundamental guidance to push forward the socialist cultural prosperity and to build a socialist country with strong culture.

    Firm confidence in cultural is the foundation of the confidence in path, theory and system. “Four confidence” is a major theoretical breakthrough. The 19^th CPC national congress is an important component of a socialist countries with Chinese characteristics, like the path, theory and system with Chinese characteristics. Profound theoretical and practical value are embedded in the emphasis of the “four confidence”, reflecting the CPC’s knowledge of the cultural status and function and representing the CPC’s high-level cultural awareness and responsibility. Xi Jinping stressed that a nationality without spiritual strength couldn’t be independent and self-reliant and a cause without cultural support can’t last for a long time. Cultural confidence represents the internal civil content and the value of the socialist China as well as becomes the support of China’s socialist and a strong spiritual strength to build a strong socialist culture. Cultural confidence enables the development experience and the historical achievement of the socialism with Chinese characteristics to be summarized and lifted at a civilization level, so it will become a more fundamental, wide-spread and profound confidence, greatly alleviating the attraction and the cohesive force of China’s socialism.

    Marxism is always a guiding ideology of the CPC and China and a strong ideological tool for us to know the world, the rule and the truth and to change the world. Xi Jinping stressed that we must stay firm when it came to the fundamental issue of sticking to Marxism, unswervingly in any circumstance. Especially in an era of diverse value and complex and tense ideological conflicts, the belief in Marxism, the great dream of communism and the common dream of socialism with China’s characteristics are fundamental for the path and the future of the CPC and the nation. In a new era, sticking to the guiding status of Marxism requires us to push forward it to be more adaptable to China, era and people and to have a clear understanding of Xi Jinping thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, the latest result of the localization of Marxism in China. We need to see the practice in China as a starting point; overcome the negative influence of doctrine and use theory to guide our practice, so as to lead the cause of the nation and the CPC to start a new situation. Meanwhile, we need to pay attention to the condition of the current era and use new technology of multi media and the internet to enable Marxism to be promoted in a more lively way, so as to let people know it in ways they like.

    It’s written in the report of the 19^th CPC national congress that “sticking to innovative transformation and development and creating new achievements for Chinese civilization with inexhaustible effort” and “since it’s founding, CPC is a leader and a practitioner of China’s advanced culture as well as an inheritor and promoter of the outstanding traditional Chinese culture.” All of these judgement shows CPC’s cultural awareness and it’s responsibility to inherit and develop the outstanding traditional Chinese culture. The outstanding traditional Chinese culture offers strong support to Chinese nationality’s progress by it’s value, humanistic spirits and moral standards, which influences Chinese’s mindset and behavior even in today, so they are our most profound cultural soft power. With the attitude of being objective, scientific and respect, we need to safeguard China’s cultural stance; push forward the innovative transformation and development of the outstanding traditional culture and integrate the traditional culture and contemporary practice based on the condition of this era, so as to add the content of this era and modern expression to the outstanding traditional Chinese culture, representing lasting charm and cultural appeal. Socialism with Chinese characteristics is entering a new era, during the process of which, the outstanding traditional Chinese culture is showing stronger spiritual strength, supporting the construction of a socialist country with a strong culture.

    Nurturing and practicing socialist core value is an internal requirement to create Chinese spirit, Chinese value and Chinese strength. Under the CPC leadership, the Chinese nation has realized the transition of standing up, getting rich and becoming prosperous. China’s construction to build a strong socialist country is a process for Chinese people to unite to face risks and challenges. The majority of people must unified and spend their effort towards one direction with the socialist core value. The socialist core value reflects the value recognized by the most people. It’s also a concentrated representation of the contemporary Chinese spirit, boasting the most wide-spread consensus and value recognition. Under new social condition, we need to make full use of the leading effect of the socialist core value. We also need to be more aware of the goal to educate new people shouldering the responsibility of a new era, which requires us to reflect the issues of “nurture what kind of value” and “nurture what kind of people”, so as to combine abstract value and principle with practical practice and character shaping and to spend more effort on the implement of the smallest details.We need to see the nurturing and the practice of the socialist core value as starting points to improve the whole society’s ethical and ideological level and to excavate and interpret the value of the traditional Chinese culture in this era, so as to enable the outstanding traditional Chinese culture to be the origin of the socialist core value.

    Socialist art is people’s art. Art is a signal indicating that the era is moving forward. It’s important in reflecting the era and leading the trend of this era. Xi Jinping stressed on the art work symposium that art is irreplaceable in realizing the “two centenary goals” and in realizing the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. Art practitioners have an significant role to play. The key to make socialist culture prosperous is people-centered orientation. Art practitioners need to love people from bottom of their hearts to focus on people and their life so as to create great work for people’s feeling and aspiration. They need to see serving people as their duty; have a clear notion of social and economic benefit and encourage people to step forward by bringing art into the society. Patriotism should be seen as the main tune of art creation to stick to and promote Chinese spirit and to lead people to have correct concepts of history, nationality, nation and culture. Culture is an education resource to enhance Chinese’s self-respect.

    Ideology relates to the path and the national political security. Since the 18^th CPC national congress, the CPC central committee with Xi Jinping as it’s core has been attaching great importance to ideological work and making a series of vital arrangement, creating a new horizons for ideological work. “Having the leadership of the ideological work” is wrote in the report of the 19^th CPC national congress. Xi Jinping also stressed that “ideological work is extremely important for the CPC” and “continuously enhance the cohesive effort and leading effect of the socialist ideology”. The CPC is the key to do ideological work. The accountability system must be implemented. We dare to stand our ground and be in the front line of the ideological fight. We need to support correct ideas and statement and resist wrong ones. We need to be aware of the ideological front line as well as it’s construction and management, so as to improve the promotion environment of the ideology. The internet develops rapidly, so we must the fight of the internet ideology; let the main ideas on the internet to be stronger; establish an internet comprehensive governance system; create a clear internet space and be sure that the internet is under control. Meanwhile, the government needs to do well the work of international promotion; improve the ability of international communication promotion; construct a communication system linking China and the international community; tell China’s story well; create a better environment for China’s reform and opening-up and gain widespread support of the international society.
