On November 6th, the “Global Practice of Culture Industry Empowering Rural Revitalization”--2021 International Cooperation Forum in Culture and Tourism Industries was held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). It’s held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Since the ministry had started the work of rural revitalization, the forum had been the first international forum event organized with the support of China International Import Expo. The forum was held with online and offline method with more than 80 exports, scholars and entrepreneurs from home and abroad attending the forum. More people participated online.
The head of the industrial development of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said that cultural industries were related to low resource consumption, less environmental pollution, science and technology, strong connection of relating fields and strong influence, so it could have multiple functions and promoting effect in rural revitalization. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism was working with relating departments to study and stipulate policies and documents to promote the rural revitalization with cultural industries. It hoped that cultural industries would promote the protection and the exploitation of cultural and natural resource as well as the development of rural economy and society. The head of Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau said that Shanghai had been studying the path of rural revitalization with the integrated development of “scientific innovation+cultural innovation+rural innovation”. The goal was to build a “cultural tourism village” with Shanghai features and industrial characteristics.
Dato Paduka Haji Abdu'r Rahmani, Brunei’s ambassador to China, said in his speech that the event was significant because Brunei was facing the challenge of unbalanced urban and rural development, but China had achieved remarkable result in solving this problem. Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesian ambassador to China, said that rural revitalization driven by cultural industries was in line with the current trend, so we needed to acknowledge that rural tourism industries were one of the important methods to develop rural economy. Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, Malaysian ambassador to China, thought the event had far-reaching significance and was held timely. Li Yaying, deputy director of the education and cultural tourism department of China-ASEAN Center, said that pushing forward rural revitalization with tourism and cultural industries was a task and wish for both sides. China and 10 ASEAN countries had previous experience and abundant achievements. From now on, there’s the need to have more communication, discussion and cooperation.
Attending the forum were representatives of the cultural and tourism governmental departments, business associations and institutes of higher learning in Japan, ROK, Cambodia, Spanish, Argentina and other countries. They shared their thoughts on working practice, successful cases and future tendency with the theme of “rural revitalization driven by cultural industries”, so as to contribute wisdom to realize the goal.
