After 100 days, the Olympic flame would be ignited again in the “Bird’s Nest” and Beijing would become the world’s first city that have held both the summer and the winter Olympic Games. Recently, ambassadors to China were interviewed by Haiwainet. They praised the preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and expressed their support.
Wim Geerts, Netherlands ambassador to China, had visited the venues for Beijing Winter Olympic Games for multiple times. He was impressed by the “Ice Ribbon”, the National Speed Skating Oval, and the “Snow Ruyi”, National Ski Jumping Center. “They are indeed pieces of art”, he said, “Every venue of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games is amazing.”
Simon Pierre Adovelande, Benin ambassador to China, said that every time when China hosted an event, the organizing level would be lifted to a new height. He looked forward to see the new things that would be brought by the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. He noticed that the game stressed the integration of architecture design and environment, especially climate change and environmental protection. According to him, “it’s different from Winter Olympic Games in the past.”
“China will hold a fantastic and successful Winter Olympic Games”, said Siyabonga Cwele, South Africa ambassador to China. He believed that sports played an important role in promoting solidity and enhancing mutual trust. Large-scale sport events like Winter Olympic Games had a long-term effect which was improving mutual understanding. The game would enable people to experience China’s culture and friendliness, which would be impressive for people coming to this country to work, study and travel.
Aldonov F. Alvarez, El Salvador’s ambassador to China, expected to experience the Olympic Games in China in 2022 by himself and be a witness of the event. “I know Beijing Winter Olympic Games would be successful”, he said, “China will bring surprise to the world through the game.”
Signe Brudeset, Norway’s ambassador to China, said that Norway had been a country with strong capability in winter sports and the country had achieved great result in past Winter Olympic Games. Norway and China had long-term cooperation in developing winter sports. Some Chinese athletes participating in cross country skiing and biathlon were trained by coach form Norway. “We look forward to Beijing Winter Olympic Games and Winter Paralympic Games!”, said Signe Brudeset.
