The Awarding Ceremony of Science, Technology and Publishing was Held in the Palace Museum

    On August 16th, the Awarding Ceremony of Science, Technology and Publishing (2015-2019) was held in the Palace Museum. Wang Xudong, curator of the Palace Museum and member of the leading party group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended the ceremony.
    From the July of 2020, the Palace Museum had started the declaration for prize (2015-2019) for science, technology and publishing. The prize would be given to researchers who worked in Palace Museum and had outstanding achievements in science, technology and publishing from 2015 to 2019. The aim was to inspire the creativity and initiative of all researchers, to create positive research atmosphere, to promote high-quality development of every career in the Palace Museum and to push the construction of “peaceful Palace Museum, scholar Palace Museum, digital Palace Museum and vigorous Palace Museum”. It had been the forth award for science, technology and publishing in the 21st century. It’s also worth mentioning that “outstanding publishing for young scholars” was a new prize set especially for young researchers.
    Wang Xudong congratulated awarded individuals and collectives and thanked Beijing Palace Museum Cultural Relics Protection Fund for it’s support to research and other causes of the Palace Museum. He pointed out that the Palace Museum had been sticking to the academic value-oriented principle and even in today, academic study was still one of the core priorities. The museum followed the idea that academic value was the basis which could be solidified by talented people. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping had been attaching great importance to the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage. He also delivered a series of important speeches and made multiple significant decisions with the goal to build a strong country with a strong culture. Those working for the Palace Museum would have a clear understanding of the core principle and rich content of the speeches delivered by the general secretary Xi Jinping. They would also enhance the implement from multiple aspects. In the future, the museum would continue to step on the road of academic study with features of Palace Museum; widen it’s academic and open vision; stick to innovation; combine social science and natural science and promote the strict academic history. In addition, the museum would value the transformation of scientific and technological achievement as well as encourage researchers to expend the scholar vision to the outside of the forbidden city and encourage young scholars to seize opportunities and to take responsibilities to shoulder missions and obligations in the future.
    The ceremony was well-received by researchers of the Palace Museum. In declaration, 189 received works met requirements. After strict judgement, 68 were rewarded, among which, 17 received “the best”, 43 “the excellent” and 8 “the best for young people”. All works were from 17 departments and institutions, including museum office, research department, painting and calligraphy department, artefact department, palace history department, cultural relics protection and technology department, exhibition department and digital and information department.
