At 10 o’clock in the morning on April 22nd, “2020 Suzhou Wuzhong Taihu Lake Cultural and Tourism Festival” started online. The theme of the opening ceremony was “visit of Wuzhong district in Suzhou city online”. The aim was to introduce cultural and tourism resource, activities during the tourism festival and tourism routes to netizens through events like the live “online interview”, live video chat and KOL “Online recommendation”, and thusly invite audience to visit Taihu Lake in Wuzhong district of Suzhou city during their vacation.
“Beautiful Taihu Lake hided it’s beauty in Wuzhong district.” Three fifth of water surface, 184 kilometers of shoreline and 58 hills near Taihu Lake were in Wuzhong. As a result, in this region, dense hills were covered by forests and flowers, shaping amazing ecological environment which was “the land of plenty” known by all. In this region, there were a Suzhou Taihu National Tourism Vacation Zone, a national 5A scenic area, 5 4A scenic areas, 2 national forest parks, a national geological park, 2 national wetland parks, 9 national famous historical and cultural towns and villages and more than 60 scenic sites opened to tourists. The district was a part of the area for people to spend their vacation and to have a trip near Binhu Lake. Currently, there were 57 intangible cultural heritages of different level and 145 inheritors of representative intangible cultural heritages, so Wuzhong was one of the areas with the most complete system of Suzhou products and the highest concentration of industries.
It had been said that “the beauty of heaven lies in that of Taihu Lake”. In recent years, the Wuzhong district CPC committee and district’s government had been creating and building an ecological cultural and tourism belt with the strategic position of “mountains and rivers in Suzhou and cultural resource in Wuzhong” and the theme of “remember Wuzhong through seeing the beauty of Jiangnan”. The government would make a plan to integrate natural and cultural resource and make the full advantage of the “tourism+”. In 2019, Wuzhong district successfully established itself as one of the first batch of provincial all-for-one demonstration areas and was on the way to construct itself as a national all-for-one demonstration area.
During the tourism festival, the organizer released “Taihu tourism annual card”, a 50% off coupon, and a discount package for quality home stay, both of which were available from 10 o’clock on April 22nd to 24:00 on April 30th. Tourists could also choose among 10 “annual routes of Wuzhong” in a wechat official account named “tiyan Wuzhong niandu luxian” literally “Main Entrance of Taihu Tourism”.
