On October 12^th of 2020, at the invitation of Equatorial Guinea Embassy in China, Liu Xianfa, assistant minister of foreign affairs, attended the reception for the 52^nd anniversary of Equatorial Guinea’s gaining of It’s independence and the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of it’s diplomatic relationship with China.

    In his speech, Liu Xianfa expressed his congratulation to Equatorial Guinea for it’s the 52^nd anniversary of Equatorial Guinea’s gaining of It’s independence and the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of it’s diplomatic relationship with China. He also said that the friendship between our two countries remained strong after a long time, despite a changing international society. We helped each other in the pandemic. Currently, the complex situation of the world was changing, Covid-19 was spreading and the international society faced increasing threats and challenges of all kinds. In the September of this year, chairman Xi Jinping attended a series of high-level conference to mark the 75^th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. He delivered important speeches to inject new vitality into the joint fight against the pandemic, to reach new consensus for the reform of the global governance system and to offer new plans for the global economic recovery. Along with African countries, including Equatorial Guinea, China would safeguard multilateralism; support the UN to be the core; oppose unilateralism and hegemony; implement the result of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and of the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against Covid-19; succeed in the fight against the pandemic, so as to promote common development after the pandemic and to contribute to the welfare of people from China and Africa.

    German Ekua Sima Abaga, Equatorial Guinea ambassador to China, said in his speech that the cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea could be seen as an example of South-South cooperation. Equatorial Guinea thanked China for it’s help and support in terms of trade, economy, infrastructure construction, human resource training, the fight against the pandemic and other aspects. Equatorial Guinea was willing to work with China to support each other firmly; to cooperate under the structures of the “Belt and Road” initiative and Forum on China-African Cooperation, so as to start a new chapter of the China-African tie.
