From October 23rd to 25th, “2020 China Nighttime Economy Forum” was held in the Wuxi City of Jiangsu Province. The theme was “digital economy and scene construction”. Attendees were experts, scholars and representatives of media and institutions. Wang Xiaofeng, member of the leading party group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended and delivered speeches.
Wang Xiaofeng said that nighttime economy was not only a part of people’s life, city’s light and a symbol of good life, but also an important driving force for a new round of consumption upgrade. Nighttime economy required systematic work to represent comprehensively city’s popularity, reputation and prosperity, relating to scientific design of a city, convenient public service and incubation representation of cultural heritages. This kind of economy was not only a tendency of the era, but also people’s expectation. We needed to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era; add interesting features, good taste and high participation to the nighttime economy; promote high-quality development of tourism and cultural industries fueled by high-quality relating nighttime consumption; increase people’s sense of gaining in tourism and cultural activities and present China’s great achievement of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and of people’s pursuit of good life.
Researchers from China Tourism Academy wrote in 2020 China Nighttime Economy Development Report that if we described that China’s nighttime economy reached 1 from 0 in 2019, that of the year 2020 had been progressing dramatically from 1 to 100. In a dual circulation structure, there’s more requirements for China’s nighttime economy because of the increasing demands, quick advancing and policies. We needed to promote the development of nighttime economy by living scene creation, support reconstructed by digital technology and centers of people’s cultural and tourism interest.
The Wuxi Consensus of the Development of High-Quality Nighttime Economy was also established in the forum.
