On November 4th, the 2020 China World Cultural Heritage Annual Conference and Mayor’s Forum were held in the site of Liangzhu Ancient City in the Hangzhou City of Zhejiang Province. Liu Yuzhu, member of the leading party group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and director of National Cultural Heritage Administration attended the conference and delivered a speech.
Liu Yuzhu said in his key speech that we needed to learn and implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee; stick to the principle of Four-Sphere Confidence; fully realize that the work relating to world cultural heritage was of overall, historical, strategic and long-term nature and have a clear idea that world intangible cultural heritages were important for the work to maintain local cultures and city features, to inherit outstanding traditional Chinese cultre and to solidify Chinese nations. World cultural heritages were already a “bright flag” to lead the development of museums for cultural relics. They also supported the sustainable development of cities where cultural relics were found and the “going out” policy. Local governments should have a clear notion of the protection and condition of China’s world cultural heritage protection; spend more effort on the innovation as well as reform and opening-up; push the work relating to world cultural relics protection to a new level; have a higher political stance and strengthen cultural confidence; stick to the new development ideology and inject more “vitality” into cultural relics; push the reform and perfect protection and management mechanism; spend more effort on innovation and tell “China’s story well” and enhance international communication and cooperation in the cultural heritage field.
The people in charge of world cultural relics cities including Hangzhou, Beijing, Xiamen, Nanjing, Qufu and other cities attended the conference to share their experience about the sustainable development of cities and world cultural heritages. Representatives of China National Committee of UNESCO and National Forestry and Grassland Administration attended and delivered speeches.
