On January 7th, Li Qiang, secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, met the delegation composed of ambassador to China from the Arab League and other 18 ambassadors to China form Arab States.
Li Qiang extended his welcome to ambassadors on behalf of Shanghai municipal party committee and people’s government, and introduced the city’s pandemic prevention and control and social economic development. He said that the unfading friendship between China and Arab States has a long history. China and Arab States have been supporting and working with each other during the unexpected spike of Covid-19, in which we have carried out the solemn promise to build a China-Arab States community with a shared future with action. Shanghai, as the largest economic center in China and a window for reform and opening-up, has been implementing the spirit of important guidance of the president Xi Jinping and has been planing for the development of the next 5 years or even longer. The city will expend the opening-up, enhance international cooperation, construct “5 centers” and build a socialist modern and international metropolis with global influence. Shanghai and Arab States enjoy friendly communication, so I hope that under the structure of the China-Arab States strategic partnership, we can make further use of our own advantages, expand cooperation and push forward our practical communication and cooperation in terms of trade, economy, education and people-to-people communication, so as to contribute to our friendly relationship.
Turki Mohammed Al-Madi, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to China, expressed his gratitude to the support of fighting against Covid-19 from Shanghai and China. He also said that this can represent the friendship between countries and our people. He hoped that through this visit, the two countries could understand each other better, enhance our trade and economic exchanges and lifted our friendship to the next stage.
Participating ambassadors were Alhassan Bukhalifa, Algeria ambassador to China, Fariz Mehdawi, Palestinian ambassador to China, Mohamed Dia Khalid, Tunisia ambassador to China, Ali Obaid Ali Al Yabhouni Al Dhahebi, United Arab Emirates’ ambassador to China, Milia Jabbour, Lebanon ambassador to China, Awale Ali Kullane, Somalia ambassador to China, Mohamed Abdellahi Elboukhary Elvilaly, Mauritania ambassador to China, Mohammed Abdullah Obaid al Dehaimi, Qatar ambassador to China, Hussam Al Husseini, Jordan ambassador to China, Nasser, Oman ambassador to China, Gaafar Karar, Sudan ambassador to China, directer of the League of Arab States China’s Office and ambassadors form Libya, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Comorin and Iraq. Participators from China were Zhuge Yujie and Zong Ming, both of which were heads of Shanghai People’s Government and Deng Li, assistant of the foreign minister.
