The city if full of cultural features, like stone slates, laotaimen (a kind of local architecture), Bazi bridge, black-awning boat... The city is presented by streets and lanes, being showed gradually. The city is beautiful. According to local residents, Shaoxing is like a bonsai. It’s small but filled with beauty. The old city covers only 9.09 square kilometers, but is famous for 14 former residences of celebrities. The city is also with affection. Working alone the road, you can notice that history and humanity are not separated, but integrated with daily life. Shaoxing is a modern city with ancient appearance. It’s beauty and affection are intertwined. The ancient city has nothing to do with boredom, just like running water aside streets and lanes.

It need not only inheritance and protection, but also innovation adapted to times.” history is a carrier for culture and culture is the life of history. China as a member of World Heritage Committee and the second largest country in terms of world cultural heritage, is an ancient civilization acknowledged by the world. In a fast-changing era, value of times can only be found in traditional culture if we keep searching for new ways to present and express.
The Day of Cultural and Natural Day is the second Saturday of June of every year. The theme of this year’s promotion and presentation of intangible cultural heritage is “People’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Must be Shared by People”. The mission is to express the idea that the protection of intangible cultural heritage is for people and the result of the protection will be shared by people as well as to create the atmosphere to protect and inherit outstanding traditional cultural heritages and culture represented by them, which need to be done by the whole society. The idea has been brought up that “traditional Chinese culture is concentrated in cultural relics which must be under good protection and governance as well as research and exploitation, so history and cultural relics can ‘talk’.” Creative transformation and innovative development are also required. The value of cultural heritage can only be presented with features of this era and new effect can only be found when integrated with life.
It’s more delighted to hear that when cultural heritages have became a part of our daily life, they are also more “alive” and more popular. Not long ago, new Sanxingdui archeological discovery which draw people’s attention to cultural heritage. If we see the whole people of outstanding traditional Chinese culture in China, we can notice their touching popularity in a new era by events like intangible cultural heritage in campus, new attraction of traditional Chinese opera and well-received cultural relics exhibition.
Culture is soul for a country and a nation. Traditional Chinese civilization lasts five thousand years. Their unique eastern features enrich human civilization. Abundant and amazing Chinese culture is hidden in architectures and books, waiting to be felt, inherited, innovated and promoted.
