    On February 26th, Hu Heping, cultural and tourism minister, meets Caroline Wilson, the newly appointed British ambassador to China. They exchange ideas on the development of cultural and tourism communication and cooperation in the two countries.

    Hu Heping says that China and UK are two representative countries of eastern and western countries, so enhancing cultural and tourism communication and cooperation benefits not only our two countries, but also the world. In recent years, active communication and expanding cooperation fields contribute to our mutual understanding and friendship. In the last October, during the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, systematic plan and strategic arrangement are made for the economy and society. It is said in the conference that the government should carry out high-level opining-up, launch win-win cooperation, enhance foreign cultural communication and multi-level dialogue among civilizations and build a human community with a shared future. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will base on the new stage of development, adhere to new development philosophy, construct new development structure, hold high-quality foreign cultural and tourism communication and cooperation and start a new chapter of friendship between China and UK.

    Caroline Wilson says that Covid-19 is a severe test for every country’s economic recovery. Against such background, cultural communication is more important than anytime. China and UK are rich in cultural and tourism resource and cultural relationship is one of the most important pillars of the relationship between the two countries. UK is willing to cooperate with China in terms of cultural industry, creative industry, cultural heritage, tourism and other aspects, all of which are conducive to the healthy development of our relationship.
