On March 18th of 2021, the promotion conference of Development plan of culture and tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (referred to as plan) is held in Guangzhou. The conference is both held online and offline. Attendees are experts, media representatives, people in charge of cultural and tourism departments of nine cities in Pearl River Delta and representatives of National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R and relating departments in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong Province.
On December 24th of 2020, to implement Development plan of culture and tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to deepen cooperation of culture and tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to co-construct bay areas for culture and leisure, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Guangdong People’s Government and Office of Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area jointly establish Development plan of culture and tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This is the first conference after establishing the plan. The aim is to enhance communication; promote the complementation of the plan; launch high-quality construction and lie solid foundation for the start of the “14th Five Year Plan”.
During the conference, attendees from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Regional Division of National Development and Reform Commission stress the importance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it’s construction and demands to implement the plan. They also require to seize the historical opportunity for Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao to build the Greater Bay Area, make full use of the implementation of the plan, have a clear understanding of the new development stage, implement new development theory, speed up the new development construction, deepen reform and innovation, enable cultural and tourism fields to follow the same rule, enable different cities in Greater Bay Area to supplement each other with their own advantage, construct with joint effort; share achievement, promote each others’ development, make a plan for coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and build a high-quality living circle conducive to industries and tourism in this area.
Attendees from the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government, Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR Government, Tourism Commission of Hong Kong SAR Government, Department of Economy and Finance of Macao SAR Government, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R and other cultural and tourism departments in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao introduce the implementation of the plan, following working methods and key projects and exchange ideas about their division of work. The conference under the structure of the leading group of the Greater Bay Area construction, relating departments of Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao should have more communication and coordination, relying on current culture and tourism cooperation work mechanisms including Cultural Cooperation Conference held in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao one after another and the Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area to establish work implementation mechanism and routine work liaison mechanism and jointly push forward the implementation.
