Xi Jinping Writes Back to Editorial Staff of Journal of Chinese Humanities’ Editorial Office

    On May 9th, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, president of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, writes back to editorial staff of Journal of Chinese Humanities’ Editorial Office to express his expectation to see good social science magazines.

    In the letter, Xi Jinping writes that Journal of Chinese Humanities has a history of 70 years. Under the lead of the Communist Party of China, several generations of editorial stuff have been doing a lot of work in sticking to the right course, innovation, inheritance, the promotion of Chinese civilization, realizing academic prosperity and other aspects. You have gained good reputation from home and broad. Your work deserves recognition.

    Xi Jinping also writes that if we want our people to feel proud and confidence because they are Chinese and want the world to have better understanding of China, we need to have a thorough understanding of Chinese civilization and to illustrate how to stick to Chinese path, promote Chinese spirit and concentrate Chinese strength, the answer to which needs to be an aspect combining the past and the present as well as the theory and practice. If we want to find an answer, social science practitioners need to work together and push forward the innovative transition and development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. High-quality academic journal needs to stick to the original aspiration, lead innovation, show high-quality research result, encourage the development of academic talents and support academic exchanges between China and the world. He hopes they will continue to work hard and make the journal a better one.

    The Journal of Chinese Humanities is published by Shandong University. It was launched on the May of 1951. The journal was the 1st university humanities journal and now, is the comprehensive academic journal of social science with the longest history in China. Recently, editorial stuff have wrote to the general secretary Xi Jinping to report their accomplishment in the last 70 years and their determination to shoulder the mission of this era, to let the journal play a more important role and to realize the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation.
