On June 1st, Wang Chen, a member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, attends the symposium which is hold to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Law on Intangible Cultural Heritage of the People’s Republic of China in the National Museum. He stresses that we need to make new contribution to the promotion of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and to the building of a socialist country with strong culture through the deepened implementation of the Law on Intangible Cultural Heritage and with the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
Wang Chen says that since the 18th CPC National Congress, with strategic goals of having firm confidence in culture and realization of the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, the Party Central Committee with Xi Jinping as it’s core has made a series of decisions and plans to promote the outstanding Chinese culture in a new era. We need to carry out those decisions and plans to push forward the implementation of the law on intangible cultural heritage with high-degree of responsibility and historic mission.
Wang Chen emphasizes that, 10 years since the establishment of the law, we have been continuous improve the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Also, there are problems left to be solved. As a result, we need to stick to socialist core values; to carry out law-popularizing; to let governments to do their responsibilities stipulated by law; to establish a supporting system and to improve the level of legalization, institutionalization and standardization. We need to make intangible cultural heritages to be a new “living” driving force for high-quality development of economy and society. We will have more international communication to increase the international influence of Chinese culture.

The forum is co-hosted by the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Participators are representatives of inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and people in charge of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Constitution and Law Committee, the Legislative Affairs Commission, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance and other relating departments.
